Cabernet Franc: A Journey Through Diverse Expressions
Cabernet Franc is one of the most versatile Bordeaux grape varieties, capable of producing a wide range of styles. Originally hailing from the Pyrenees between France and Spain, it naturally established itself in Bordeaux and the Loire Valley. From there, Italian and French winemakers, armed with generations of knowledge, helped spread this remarkable grape around the globe. Today, some of the most captivating expressions of Cabernet Franc can be found in regions as diverse as Argentina, Chile, New Zealand, and, notably, Washington.
One of the best ways to experience the full spectrum of Cabernet Franc’s potential is through a comparative tasting. To showcase this versatility, we’ve selected three outstanding Cab Franc-based wines: one from the Loire Valley and two from the Pacific Northwest.
By exploring these three distinct Cab Francs, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the diversity and complexity that this grape can achieve across different regions and winemaking styles.
